A vigorous, high yielding variety. Also called aubergine. One of the very best varieties producing tender, tasty purplish-black with smooth, glossy skin fruits. Eggplant love warm weather. Grow in a sunny, sheltered position, in rich, well-drained soil, with added fertiliser. Easy to grow. Keeps well.
Hint: To grow in containers, plant one per ø30 cm pot.
Harvest: For best quality, harvest before its glossy skin begins fading to dull purple. To determine ripeness, just remember that skin colour and tone (glossy versus dull) is more important than size of the fruit.
