RED AMARANTH (Bayam Merah): A leafy vegetable for hot, dry or moist areas. Plants are uniform, growing rapidly. Leaves are broad oval, pale green, rather lumpy with red marking in the centre. Pest and disease resistance. The leaves are very nutritious: Rich in protein, iron, calcium and vitamins; double the amount found in spinaches.
HINTS: Easy growing, thrives well in sunny or sheltered situation. The ideal soil is light, sandy, fertile and well drained. Picked when young, for it distinct flavour.
